Brittany Levingston is a fifth year joint PhD candidate in African American Studies and English at Yale University. Her research focuses on Christianity in African American literature and her dissertation, entitled “Nobody Know But Jesus: Christ in Early Twentieth-Century African American Literature,” explores the way the image of Christ is utilized by African American authors in the first half of the twentieth century.
