Justin Sider: “Matthew Arnold and the Sense of an Ending”

Thursday, January 17 at 4:00, LC 319. The 18th-19th-Century Colloquium presents: Justin Sider is a PhD Candidate in the English Dept. at Yale University. He is currently completing a dissertation entitled “Parting Words: Address and Exemplarity in Victorian Poetry,” which studies valedictory speeches and scenes of departure as sites within which poets re-imagined poetic utterance as public address. Articles from his current research are forthcoming in Studies in English Literature and Victorian Poetry, on John Ruskin and Alfred Tennyson respectively.
