Herbert Tucker: “Word Magic: Victorian Charm in Theory and Practice”

Coleman Professor at the University of Virginia where he specializes in 19^th Century British poetry. Author of Epic (Oxford, 2008), Tennyson and the Doom of Romanticism (Harvard, 1988) and Browning’s Beginnings: The Art of Disclosure (Minnesota, 1981), he is co-editor with Dorothy Mermin of Victorian Literature 1830-1900 (Harcourt, 2001) and runs the online prosody tutorial For Better For Verse.
