Monday, March 4 at 4:00, LC 317. The English Department Lecture Series presents: James F. English, John Welsh Centennial Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He specializes in modern and contemporary British fiction. He is the author of Comic Transactions: Literature, Humor, and the Politics of Community in Twentieth-Century Britain, The Economy of Prestige: Prizes, Awards, and the Circulation of Cultural Value, and The Concise Companion to Contemporary British Fiction, a collection of essays about the scene and system of literary production in the UK. He is currently Director of the Penn Humanities Forum and founding Director of the Digital Humanities Forum.
