Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at Duke University, Hayles has a background in Chemistry and English. Her interests include digital humanities; electronic literature; literature, science and technology; science fiction; and critical theory. Hayles is the author of numerous books, including her most recent: “How We Think: Digital Media and Contemporary Technogenesis” and has won many prestigious awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Rockefeller Residential Fellowship, and two Presidential Research Fellowships from the University of California.
