Graduate Student Ben Pokross Wins C19 Rising Scholar Prize

December 14, 2020

We are delighted to announce the winner of the inaugural C19 Rising Scholar Prize. An initiative of the 2018-2020 C19 Executive Committee led by Meredith McGill, the prize recognizes the top paper presented at the 2020 C19 Virtual Conference by a member in the early stages of their career. C19 members who are either current masters and doctoral students, or scholars who received their PhD in the last 6 years were eligible to submit. The prize carries an honorarium of $250, and the winner and honorable mentions will be listed on our C19 website. More information on the prize can be found at https://c19conference.wordpress.com/c19-rising-scholar…/.

The members of this year’s Rising Scholar Prize Selection Committee were Anna Brickhouse (chair), Ren Heintz, and Greg Laski. The members of the Rising Scholar Prize Selection Committee “were all deeply impressed by the quality of the body of C19 essays as a whole, and agreed that it was hard to choose among so many different approaches and amidst so much general excellence.” They named three honorable mentions in addition to the winner. Congratulations to all!
