She teaches the novel, eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British culture, narrative theory, gender studies, and the history of books and reading. Reader’s Block: The Uses of Books in Nineteenth-Century Britain is forthcoming in 2011. Her next project, Reading for Life, charts the rise of “bibliotherapy” in twenty-first-century America.
