Leah Price: “Force-Reading: Free Print and Captive Audiences in Nineteenth-Century Britain”

The Department Lecture Series presents: Leah Price ,Professor of English at Harvard University, where she also holds the Harvard College Professorship.  She teaches the novel, eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British culture, narrative theory, gender studies, and the history of books and reading.  Reader’s Block: The Uses of Books in Nineteenth-Century Britain is forthcoming in 2011. Her next project, Reading for Life, charts the rise of “bibliotherapy” in twenty-first-century America.
