Simon Horobin: Leading a discussion seminar

On Friday, September 27 at 4:00, LC 319 the Medieval Colloquium presents: Simon Horobin is Professor of English Language and Literature and Tutorial Fellow in English at Magdalen College, University of Oxford.  His research interests include the history of the English Language, especially in the Medieval period, and Medieval paleography and book history.   His recent research has focused upon English spelling.  Some of Professor Horobin’s recent publications include Chaucer’s Language (2006), Studying the History of Early English (2009) and Does Spelling Matter? (2013).

Professor Horobin will be leading a discussion seminar on the subject of scribal attribution: showing and discussing images of MSS in various medieval scribal hands, and presenting some of the problems of attributing close visual matches to the same scribe.
