Tsitsi Jaji: “African American Dialect Poetry in Art Songs from the Black Atlantic”

Thursday, April 26 at 4:30, Stoeckel Hall the 20/21st Century Colloquium presents: Tsitsi Jaji is an assistant professor of English and Africana Studies at University of Pennsylvania with research interests in music, literature and film of Africa and the black diaspora. She is currently completing her first book, Africa in Stereo, which examines the influence of African American popular music on modernist expression in South Africa, Ghana and Senegal. Her poetry has appeared in Bitter Oleander, Runes and the Center for Book Arts Broadsides Series.
