Alastair Minnis: Honorary Member of the Royal Irish Academy.

December 16, 2016

Alastair Minnis, Douglas Tracy Smith Professor of English, has been elected an Honorary Member of the Royal Irish Academy.

Membership of this body is the highest academic honor in Ireland.  Honorary Membership is awarded to persons who have made outstanding contributions to their academic discipline, but who are normally resident outside the island of Ireland.

Founded in 1785, the Royal Irish Academy (RIA) is Ireland’s premier learned body. Drawing on its Members’ expertise, the RIA makes a significant contribution to public debate and policy formation on issues in science, technology and culture.
