Dan Fox is a writer, filmmaker, musician, and the author of Limbo (Fitzcarraldo Editions, 2018) and Pretentiousness: Why It Matters (Fitzcarraldo Editions, 2016), which was a New York Times Notable Book. His essays and reviews on art and culture have appeared in n+1, the Paris Review, the Financial Times, the Guardian, the World of Interiors, and a wide variety of exhibition catalogs, monographs, and anthologies. For twenty years he was an editor and staff writer for Frieze magazine (from 2014–18 as co-editor) and has been a juror for the Tate Museum’s Turner Prize and the Guggenheim’s Hugo Boss Award. In 2021 he was the recipient of an Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant. He is currently a senior editor for The Yale Review.

His BBC-commissioned film Other, Like Me: The Oral History of COUM Transmissions and Throbbing Gristle (co-directed with Marcus Werner Hed) has played in festivals across the world and was nominated for a 2022 Grierson Award.
